Haiti As Tropical Storm Tomas Nears - Video
Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 6:27PM Late this afternoon I finally heard (via cell phone) from hurricane videographer and good friend Jim Edds, who’s currently in Port-au-Prince, Haiti for Tropical Storm Tomas. He said they spent the first half of the day filming (video above) the heavily populated area’s of the city where shack homes cover the hilly terrain. They had some difficulties navigating through the crowed streets at times and the amount of trash and raw sewage was absolutely terrible. He also said they filmed around the Haiti Presidential Palace that collapsed during the massive earthquake back on January 12, 2010, and could believe the amount of destruction that remains throughout the city.
Jim called back early this evening saying that the rains had begun to move in from the Caribbean, and that they planned to head back out before sunset for some additional filming. I expect to hear from Jim again sometime later tonight and will update then.
