Spring is in the air here in South Florida, with warm weather, rain showers and awesome views of wildlife everywhere. Bring on spring!
I was lucky enough over the last few weeks to have a Florida Mockingbird nest right outside my office window with an amazing view right into the nest. Finally today I took the time to carefully remove the screen from the window, and setup my HDSLR camera (5D Mark II for the tech heads) to capture some HD video and still pictures.
The late morning light was about the best I was going to get for the day with clouds expected later, so I quickly framed up my shot and waited. After about 10 minutes the mother bird returned to the nest with a little baby dragonfly to feed the chicks. She did this numerous times over 30 minutes while also scaring off other birds.
It was a pretty cool sight to watch, and I just sat back in the computer chair with my lens almost out the window waiting for the right time to record again. I put together this short video clip of the birds with some fun music by Judson Lee (licensed).
