It has been a wild afternoon for southern Florida today, with an active Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9pm EDT, and numerous severe thunderstorm warnings in the last hour. Large hail to the size of golfballs has been recently reported in Miami-Dade County near Coconut Grove.
Another impressive severe weather report was in Hendry County, with several reports of baseball size (2.75 inch) hail. Other reports include damaging straight-line winds that have knocked out power and uprooted tree's from metro Palm Beach and Broward to Miami-Dade.
At the present hour, most of the severe storms have shifted to southwest Florida. These storms are tracking southeastward, and additional storms are possible for the southern half of the peninsula as we move into the evening hours.
